The Wireless Communications Group was formed in the year 2000 with the purpose of generating meaningful research in support of the postgraduate program in telecommunications of the Electronics Engineering Department. Since its creation, the group has been able to consolidate a position of leadership in the country in the area of wireless communications, and has earned significant financial support through research grants, reflecting growing recognition of the achievement of its research goals. The group has been able to establish solid collaboration with prestigious international institutions, known for their contributions in the field of wireless communications.

Among them are the Wireless Communications Research Department of Bell-Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, through its Director, Dr. Reinaldo Valenzuela , INRS Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, through Professor Leszek Szczecinski.

As a result of the group’s efforts, there has been a steady growth in research productivity, reflected in journal and conference papers and a growing interest in the pursuit of graduate studies in the Electronics Engineering Department.
